Discover maritime stories from around the UK – 23rd May 2017 – 19:00

The Last Fisherman Standing is proud to host an evening with Fernanda Balata, Project Lead for Coastal and Marine Environment at the New Economics Foundation in London.

Fernanda leads NEF’s Blue New Deal initiative aimed at supporting an economic transformation on the UK coast. Among the initiatives the Blue New Deal has showcased is Worthing’s “Catchbox”, a member supported fish box scheme working with small scale fishermen in Adur & Worthing.

Since the Blue New Deal launch in 2015, the initiative has brought together hundreds of individuals, organisations and policy-makers to co-develop an action plan aimed at supporting more good jobs and increased economic sustainability for coastal communities whilst restoring the health of the coastal and marine environment.

Fernanda joins us in Worthing on the 23rd of May to share her work on the Blue New Deal, and how communities all over the UK are rediscovering their connections to the sea.
